The effect of calcium on the skin and its appearance

Posted by Kamil Siuda day

Calcium plays a crucial role in the body, primarily due to its role in bone and tooth structure. Adequate calcium is also essential for the proper functioning of muscles and skin.

Calcium is essential at every stage of our lives. Deficiency in childhood results in rickets and inadequate growth. In adulthood, calcium deficiency can cause bone deformities and brittleness, dental damage, and impaired heart, muscle, and nervous system function. Long-term deficiency can lead to illness or impaired organ function.

Calcium It's essential in our diet to keep our bones strong and resistant to fractures. We excrete approximately 1,100 mg of calcium from our bodies daily. We primarily obtain calcium from food: milk, cheese, fish, and eggs. In addition to animal products, calcium is also found in plant foods: bread, flour, some fruits, soybeans, beans, and cocoa.
In women, the main causes of low calcium levels are a lack of a balanced diet rich in dairy products and previous pregnancies. Whenever possible, it's worth supplementing your diet with the missing nutrients and taking supplements.

Low calcium levels It causes blood clotting disorders. Bruises form more easily, even with minor trauma or pressure. Chronic calcium deficiency can manifest itself through brittle nails and hair, skin discoloration, and ulcers. The amount of calcium in the body affects the rate of skin regeneration, which translates to slower wound healing. Calcium ions in the body support the treatment of allergies and inflammation. Calcium as a dietary component is crucial for allergy sufferers, alleviating skin and food allergies.

Calcium deficiency They pose a particular threat to breastfeeding and pregnant women. They provide their baby with up to 300 mg of calcium daily, regardless of its body level. This means the mother may be deficient in calcium. Symptoms of calcium deficiency in pregnant women include primarily tooth decay and dental problems.

Long-term deficiency affects nails and hair and can lead to depression, anxiety, and, in young people and children, mental retardation. Another consequence of calcium deficiency can be tetany, a condition characterized by excessive muscle contraction. Main symptoms of deficiency include: muscle fatigue and weakness, muscle cramps, joint pain, bone fragility and susceptibility to fractures, frequent tooth decay, osteoporosis, nosebleeds, and sleep disturbances.

Lime also has healing properties. It's very effective in treating allergies. Skin allergies are often difficult to diagnose correctly due to their non-specific symptoms. Not every skin lesion indicates an allergy. The most common symptoms of skin allergies include itching, rash, redness, erythema, vesicles, blisters, and swelling. This can result in discoloration, which can spoil the appearance. Skin allergies are unpleasant and difficult to treat. One of the most common symptoms is skin breakouts. These appear as reddened bumps that appear on the skin, open, and ooze. Additional symptoms that may also occur include itching and burning. The skin becomes rough and scaly, causing unpleasant cracks.

Allergic rashes can be caused by food, medications or cosmetics. The most common rash is hives. It appears locally and is caused by direct contact with the allergen. If it appears on the skin, it means the allergen has entered the bloodstream. Allergy prevention includes supplementing calcium levels in the body and using appropriate cosmetics and laundry detergents.

Let's remember:

  • Calcium is the main building block of the skeletal system.
  • The daily requirement for calcium is approximately 1000mg.
  • Calcium deficiency affects many areas of our lives, from changes in the condition of the skin and hair to depression.
  • Make sure you're getting enough calcium – to meet these requirements, you should consume 2 glasses of milk or 2 slices of cheese daily. If this isn't possible, consider supplementation.
